Special Learning Program

At OLA, we recognize that no child learns in the same manner or at the same pace. That's why we provide special learning programs for children with enhanced academic needs.

Options program at OLA

Options at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School, formerly the PACE Program, is a self-contained program for students Grades 2-8 with average to above average cognitive ability and a diagnosed specific learning disability. It is designed to serve students who are struggling significantly in the areas of reading and writing. Students in this program receive instruction using the Orton-Gillingham approach. The goal of this program is to remediate reading and writing weaknesses so that students can return to the general education classroom.

Learning Support

Learning Support is designed for students who may not have a diagnosed learning disability, but still require help with the general education curriculum. Learning Support is offered on an as needed basis. Curriculum and assignments are not modified and students participate fully in the general education curriculum.
